Support Our Work. Become a Donor.

Successfully filing petitions and helping individuals navigate the legal world of immigration is what we do every day. While we charge a nominal fee for our services, these fees only cover about a third of our annual expenses. We look to you, our community, to come along side us and the families we serve to help make our mission possible. Help us meet our clients’ needs by donating today!

$40+ / month
Monthly Match Donors

Most people think of “match donations” as something only a wealthy philanthropist can do. Not us. Here at LIA, we ask our new donors to set up a monthly recurring donation to “match” one $40 consultation fee per month. Monthly Match Donors give $40 or more each month and play an integral part in helping us keep our costs low and affordable. Click here to become a part of keeping legal services accessible to those who need them!

$500-$4,999 / year
Anchor Donors

Anchor donors make Lighthouse’s mission a sustainable reality by grounding us through generous financial support. We believe that sustainability means not only doing the work, but doing it well. When you help us meet our needs, we are better equipped to meet the needs of our clients. From those who give $500 a year, to those who contribute thousands, each Anchor donor plays a key role in securing Lighthouse's presence in the West Michigan community.

$5,000 + / year
Beacon Donors

Our beacon donors amplify the light of our growing organization and make it possible for Lighthouse to reach more people each year. These donors allow LIA to expand capacity and invest in new programs that address the holistic, long-term empowerment of the immigrant community in West Michigan. Beacon donors are invested not only in keeping Lighthouse sustainable, but also in pushing us to the next level.

Why Your Support Matters

Your donation keeps legal services affordable for immigrants in West Michigan.

For many immigrants looking for legal services, the legal fees charged by private attorneys can make an already expensive process completely unaffordable. Moreover, the U.S. government charges immigrants hefty fees for filing the applications they need to adjust their status. However, we believe that getting help for your family shouldn’t be cost-prohibitive. For this reason, Lighthouse provides discounted legal services to immigrants and refugees, allowing families in West Michigan to access the services they need. For example, we charge only $400 to clients who are applying to become naturalized citizens, but most private attorneys charge $850 or more for the same process. Sustained financial support from individuals like you mitigate costs to LIA clients, allowing us to provide high-quality legal services that are not cost-prohibitive.

Your donation supports a welcoming West Michigan community.

Your donations help to build a West Michigan community where diversity, equity, and included are not only valued, but put into action. By supporting LIA, you play a part in ensuring immigrants and their families can securely set up roots in this region and share their talents, passions, and culture with the broader community. In addition, your donations sustain LIA’s long history of providing high-quality community education on issues of immigration through Immigration 101 workshops, public presentations, and our quarterly newsletter. Community education creates the foundation for informed advocacy efforts and the long-term cultural change that will shape a stronger West Michigan.
