While we charge a nominal fee for our services, these fees only cover about a third of our annual expenses. Most people think of “match donations” as something only a wealthy philanthropist can do. Not us. Here at LIA, we ask our new donors to set up a monthly recurring donation to “match” one $40 consultation fee per month. Monthly Match Donors give $40 or more each month and play an integral part in helping us keep our costs low and affordable. Your donation keeps legal services affordable for immigrants in West Michigan.
For many immigrants looking for legal services, the legal fees charged by private attorneys can make an already expensive process completely unaffordable. Moreover, the U.S. government charges immigrants hefty fees for filing the applications they need to adjust their status. However, we believe that getting help for your family shouldn’t be cost-prohibitive. For this reason, Lighthouse provides discounted legal services to immigrants and refugees, allowing families in West Michigan to access the services they need. For example, we charge only $400 to clients who are applying to become naturalized citizens, but most private attorneys charge $850 or more for the same process. Sustained financial support from individuals like you mitigate costs to LIA clients, allowing us to provide high-quality legal services that are not cost-prohibitive.
