We've been very busy this spring, and we can't wait to tell you about it! Thanks for checking out our updates!

In an effort to make our intake process faster, (and our waitlist disappear!) we are changing the way we run our new client phone triage system! On Tuesdays and Thursdays, all new clients will be able to call (616) 221-5542 and speak with an LIA team member who will help them assess what immigration remedies are available with LIA. Any returning clients will continue to call the office as usual, new clients will be directed to this line only.

We want to give heartfelt thanks to Tulip City Brewstillery and to everyone who joined us at April’s silent auction event. Your presence and energy made the entire evening feel vibrant and exciting. It was truly a joy to see familiar faces as well as meet new friends, all united by a common cause. Thanks to your generosity and unwavering support, we were able to surpass our fundraising goals and will make a big impact on our Legal Services program. We are immensely grateful to all those who donated personal items as well as all the businesses who supported us with gifts. We are honored to have so many allies willing to journey with us in our mission to bring stability and affordable legal services to immigrants seeking a new life here.

For the past month, Long Road Distillers Grand Haven tasting room has been hosting a community cocktail for Lighthouse Immigrant Advocates. Long Road will donate a portion of sales to LIA and we are so grateful! Thank you to all who made the trek to check out the Gin Sanctuary! https://longroaddistillers.com/visit-grand-rapids/visit-grand-haven/

Our community partners at Out On The Lakeshore hosted a 5k race on June 8th that LIA and friends were happy to participate in! Throughout the month of June, they will be hosting many more events for Pride Month. We'll see you there!

Growth looks good on LIA, and we couldn't be happier about it. With the growing demands for our time with the Community Navigators Program and mobile clinics, we have hired Leah to handle logistics for the legal team!

Every summer, we have the opportunity to represent LIA to the community by supporting our local partner organizations. We look forward to seeing you at the I Am Academy’s Juneteenth celebration on June 15th, Out On The Lakeshore’s Pride Festival on June 29th, LAUP’s Fiesta on July 20th, and A Glimpse Of Africa's Cultural Festival August 9-11th. If you are interested in helping us prepare, set up, tear down, or represent our organization at the table for an hour or two, please contact development@lia-michigan.org.
